SIG Sauer P320 M17 Ceremonial 9mm Pistol

 m17-c-gallery-1.jpg

Based on the four pistols presented to the Sentinels who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

SIG Sauer has been equipping US military forces in the late '80s with the M11 and the legendary Mk25. Since then, they have gone on to win contracts for rifles, machine guns, optics, and of course the M17 and M18 pistols. These are all major wins for Sig and meaningful upgrades for US warfighters. However, it can be argued the most important weapons that Sig Sauer has ever provided were when a set of four ceremonial grade pistols were made for the Sentinels of the 3rd Infantry Regiment who keep watch over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Back in 2018, Recoil Magazine took a detailed look at these pistols and the special materials that went into their production. From marble dust from the tomb to wood from the USS Olympia, every detail was tailored to the Sentinels sacred purpose.

Inspired by the ceremonial pistols that SIG SAUER’s Custom Works team created, the new P320-M17 Ceremonial has been designed with craftsmanship and attention to detail. From its highly curated materials to precision engineering, the new P320-M17 ceremonial embodies the essence of timeless quality.

The P320-M17 Ceremonial is built around a high-polish AXG all metal grip module fitted with custom Hogue walnut grip panels. The optics-ready slide is also high-polish and includes Sig's XRAY3 front and rear day/night sights. Chambered in 9mm, the P320-M17 Ceremonial maintains the same reliability as its duty-grade cousins with a 4.7” carbon steel barrel, M1913 accessory rail, and 21+1 round capacity. The P320-M17 Ceremonial, an acknowledgement of dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our country – a symbol of courage, resilience, and undeniable impact, marking the end of a commendable career of service and beginning of active duty alike.

Features of the Ceremonial model:

  • Solemn Lineage: Inspired by the pistols of the Sentinels of The Old Guard who watch over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
  • High Polish DLC Finish: Deep, polished black finish mirrors the perfection of the dress uniforms of honor guards.
  • AXG Grip Module: Features enhanced ergonomics and custom walnut grips by Hogue.
  • Generous 21-Round Capacity: 21-Round magazines for an extended shooting experience without frequent reloading.
  • Optics-Ready Versatility: Easily mounts leading red dot sights for tailored precision and performance.

Introduction to the AXG Series:

The AXG series by SIG Sauer is built around enhanced grip modules for their polymer handgun lines. The solid feel of a metal framed pistol inspires confidence in shooters and adds weight for recoil control. The AXG frame boasts enhanced ergonomics and the ability to mount assorted custom grips. Often used in tandem with custom finishes and further performance upgrades, this is the series for those who want more than just a plain polymer pistol.

Technical Dive:

The saga of the SIG Sauer M17 Ceremonial is the culmination of a long history of excellence, upholding the same principles of precision engineering and proficiency. Diving deeper into its technical aspects, this optics-ready pistol embodies innovation with respect to tradition. The metal AXG grip module allows for use of custom walnut grips by Hogue. These contrast with the deep black of the DLC finish. The high polish combined with wood grips calls back to times past when weapons were oil finished wood and blued steel.

But what is a DLC coating? DLC stands for Diamond-Like Carbon. It is a super thin layer of carbon which exhibits diamond-like properties but without the crystal structure of diamond. DLC coatings enhance surface hardness, wear resistance, and slickness. These mechanical advantages bring with them the beautiful finish of the Ceremonial model.

Additionally, shooters will benefit from the generous 21-round capacity magazines—a significant enhancement for both competition and self-defense scenarios.

The slide, made of stainless steel, offers intuitively-placed serrations on the front and rear, allowing for a confident grasp under various conditions, whether in competitive settings or high-stress defensive situations.

Optic Options:

This Sig Ceremonial model comes ready to accommodate a selection of the market's most sought-after optics, offering a platform that is as versatile as it is precise. Outfitted with the Pro-Series Optics Plate, it's tailored for the SIG SAUER ROMEO1Pro, ROMEO2, and new Romeo-X Pro assuring a seamless fit for these in-house red dot sights. For those who favor alternative brands, the pistol's slide is also compatible with renowned optics such as the Leupold Deltapoint Pro, known for their durability and reliability in various shooting conditions.

While the pistol is optimized for these four optics, it has the potential to mount others like the Aimpoint ACRO, Trijicon RMR, and certain Holosun models, with the correct adapter plates. This adaptability renders the P320 M17 an ideal choice for shooters who value customization and the ability to use their preferred red dot sights.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM.  It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder.  No civilian exceptions.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:

1)     Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.

2)     A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.

3)     After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).

4)     Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)

5)     Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.

That’s it! We try to make this process as simple as possible for our customers, but if you are unfamiliar the process or have any other questions, please visit our How to Buy a Firearm page for more details.

California and New York residents please, click here. The process may be different due to state specific laws.

NOTE: The free shipping option does not apply to full rifles, unless purchased with a riflescope.  If you choose free shipping at check-out, we will bill you for shipping later.
