Mk18 CQBR Upper Receiver Group — Mod 0 LMT 10.5" URG

Before Colt. Before Geissele. Before the Mod 3. There was the LMT. The Mk18 Mod 0 is the original — the Lewis Machine and Tool upper receiver with 10.5" barrel that proved the close-quarters battle concept and launched an entire doctrine. This is the Mk18 from the early Global War on Terror years — the platform that SEAL Teams standardized on in the immediate post-9/11 operational surge when units needed a compact, reliable carbine capable of the dynamic entry and fast-exfil missions that the new operational environment demanded.

LMT: The Original Mk18 Contractor

Lewis Machine and Tool won the original Mk18 upper receiver contract based on their manufacturing quality and ability to deliver to military specification. The LMT upper carries distinctive markings that distinguish it from the later Colt/Geissele Mod 3 configuration — and for collectors tracking the generational evolution of the Mk18 platform, those markings matter. The 10.5" barrel is slightly shorter than the Mod 3's 11.5" — a half-inch that represents the refinement of operational feedback over years of deployment. The Mod 3's additional half-inch came from operators determining that the velocity and accuracy trade-off was worth slightly more barrel length in most operational scenarios.

Choosing Between Mk18 Generations

The Mk18 Mod 0 (LMT, 10.5") is the historically earlier, operationally original configuration — correct for early GWOT SEAL Team builds and the documented NSW configurations from 2001 through the mid-2000s. The Mk18 Mod 3 (Colt/Geissele, 11.5") is the current-generation specification. Both are correct; they represent different points in the platform's history. CCC carries both because the right answer depends on which configuration you are building.
