Knights Armament KAC SR-15 E3 Mod 2 Rifle 16" FDE / Taupe

Maybe it is time to experience the superior performance of an SR15 in Taupe

The Knight's Armament KAC SR-15 E3 Mod 2 Rifle is a classic, and factory coated in FDE or Taupe.  A rifle that everyone looks up to. This modern classic represents the zenith of contemporary AR-15 firearm engineering. Born from the innovative mind of C. Reed Knight Jr. and the guiding wisdom of Eugene Stoner, this rifle is a testament to Knight's Armament's dedication to excellence since its inception in 1974.

The KAC SR-15 E3 Mod 2 is not just another AR-15 with upgraded features. It's a meticulously crafted weapon that stands out with its E3 Enhanced Bolt, characterized by an expanded bolt face, rounded lugs, and a robust bolt web for superior durability. This rifle is more than a weapon; it's a testament to quality and performance, from the core to the exterior.

The heart of this firearm is its finely calibrated mid-length gas system. It ensures a precise amount of gas to reliably cycle the system without the excess that could lead to internal fouling or discomfort to the shooter, even when suppressed. This precision engineering results in a smoother, flatter shooting experience with a gentler recoil impulse compared to standard ARs.

The SR-15 E3 Mod 2 comes with a 4.5lb 2-stage match trigger, striking an ideal balance between performance and military-grade security. The included Knight's Armament flip-up sights are highly regarded in the industry and are among the most sought-after backup sights available.

Highlights

  • The E3 Enhanced Bolt: This feature includes an enlarged bolt face, rounded lugs, and a thicker bolt web, all contributing to enhanced durability.
  • Mid-Length Gas System: This system has been finely tuned to deliver the precise amount of gas needed to reliably cycle the system, avoiding excess gas that could lead to internal fouling.
  • 5.5-6lb Trigger: This trigger weight has been chosen to provide a balance between performance and military-grade security.
  • Knight’s Armament Flip-Up Sights: These are recognized as some of the top backup sights available on the market.
  • Authentic Factory Build: The rifle is 100% factory-built, ensuring the highest quality and reliability.
  • Taupe Finish: The rifle comes with a distinctive Taupe finish, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
  • Battle-Ready: This is a true battle rifle, designed and built to be ready for service right out of the box.

The Knight's Armament KAC SR-15 E3 Mod 2 Rifle is a high-end firearm designed for enthusiasts who appreciate the blend of innovation, quality, and performance. It's more than a rifle; it's a symbol of firearm excellence.

FAQs:

QUESTION:  Is this rifle authentic, or a knock-off?

ANSWER:  Charlie's sells authentic rifles.  Some rifles are custom made, and when that is the case, you will see that in the description.  This is a new Knights Armament rifle.

QUESTION:  What is the effective range of this rifle?

ANSWER:  The effective range of an AR-15 style rifle like the KAC SR-15 E3 Mod 2 can vary, but it's typically effective up to 500-600 yards depending on the ammunition used and the shooter's skill.

QUESTION:  How does the performance of the E3 Enhanced Bolt compare to standard bolts in other AR-15 models?

ANSWER:  The E3 Enhanced Bolt is designed for increased durability with an enlarged bolt face, rounded lugs, and a thicker bolt web. This should provide improved reliability and longevity compared to standard bolts.

QUESTION:  Are there any specific cleaning or maintenance requirements for this rifle due to its unique features?

ANSWER:  Like all firearms, regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for optimal performance. The unique features of this rifle shouldn't require any special maintenance beyond what's typical for an AR-15.

QUESTION:  It would appear that the SR15 is rather expensive.  Why is that?

ANSWER:  Well, Knight's products do demand a premium in price over many other quality brands.  Some of this is the proprietary nature of the manufacturing process, and some of this is a supply constriction, which has caused prices to go up each year.  At Charlie's, our costs for KAC products, especially rifles, goes up and up.  Also, keep in-mind that the list price for this rifle, when first introduced, was a bit less.  You may see other online dealers with a much lower price, but those dealers might also be out of stock.  It is common for dealers to only increase the price when they have product to sell. Knights is not for everyone, and if you are concerned about pricing, there are other quality rifles that we sell that do not command the price of a KAC rifle.

QUESTION:  Can the rifle accommodate other types of sights, or am I limited to the included flip-up sights?

ANSWER:  This SR15 rifle will accommodate a wide range of both backup iron sights and red-dot optics and magnified riflescopes.  The Picatinny rail is industry standard, and the possibilities are limitless.  The KAC provided flip-up sights are an excellent iron sight solution.  Most shooters will augment this with a variable power riflescope and use the KAC sights as backup iron sights (BUIS)

QUESTION:  Are there any restrictions on purchasing or owning this rifle in certain states or regions?

Yes, some states restrict semi-automatic rifles.  Others restrict the magazine capacity.  Where a state allows the rifle, but not the magazine, no magazine is shipped with the rifle.  The state of California does not allow an SR15 by name, so we cannot ship to California.  You should become familiar with your state or localities restrictions before making a purchase.

QUESTION:  Can this rifle be exported outside the USA?

ANSWER:  While Charlie's offers exporting of some rifles and many accessories, Knights Armament does not allow the export of this rifle.

QUESTION:  What type of ammunition does the rifle perform best with?

ANSWER:  This rifle is compatible with 5.56mm and .223 caliber ammunition that is within SAMMI guidelines.  At Charlie's Custom Clones, we recommend a quality brand, non steel case ammo.  With a 16" barrel, we have found this rifle to be very tolerant of ammunition of a wide spectrum of bullet weights.  Often times, shorter barrels, and gas systems with a short dwell time, or rifles running a suppressor will favor a certain bullet weight.  We have found that a mid-length gas system with a 16" barrel to be very forgiving.  If you run suppressed, you may want to try a range of ammunition to see what works best for you.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM.  It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder.  No civilian exceptions.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:

1)     Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.

2)     A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.

3)     After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).

4)     Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)

5)     Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.
