Griffin Armament Dual-Lok PSR 5 .223 - 5.56 Over the Barrel Suppressor - FDE

A Griffin Armament Dual-Lok PSR 5 OTB silencer mounted to a rifle

Modern Dual-Lok silencer in a a reflex form factor.

At Charlie's we are big fans of the classic reflex style silencer. The Allen Engineering AEM5 is iconic. The over the barrel nature allows for increased internal volume while minimizing added length. While Allen Engineering covers the needs of the Mk12 shooter, there are gaps for other designs. Griffin Armament has brought several Near Clone models for other military clones to market. But clones aren't the only platforms that benefit from a reflex silencer.

Griffin Armament has taken the advancements made in their Dual-Lok line up and put them in their PSR 5 over the barrel silencer. Though the silencer is 8.4" long, thanks to its reflex mounting, it only adds 4.8" to the overall length of the barrel!

Griffin has been a name brand in the suppressor world since before suppressors became mainstream. They have been making over the barrel silencers for more than a decade. Built to surpass their legacy OTB suppressors, the PSR 5 is lighter, stronger, quieter, and has less back pressure. With a minimum barrel length of only 7.5" and a full auto rating from its Inconel and 17-4PH construction, the PSR 5 can handle anything you want to throw at it. Utilize this silencer on any of your 5.56 rifles with sufficient clearance for the OTB muzzle device. The Dual-Lok OTB mount offers solid lock up with minimal point of impact shift. Finally, the ECO-Flow baffle design reduces blowback and shooter toxicity while the end cap incorporates flash hiding characteristics. All covered by Griffin's Perpetual Lifetime Warranty.

Highlights

  • Lightweight at just 14.9 oz yet durable enough for full-auto fire
  • Reflex design only adds 4.8" to the overall length
  • Patented pressure and flash reducing end cap
  • Patent pending Dual-Lok mounting system for rock-solid attachment and minimal POI shift
  • ECO-Flow patented baffle system reduces backpressure and blowback

Boasting Griffin’s latest innovations in signature reduction, the PSR 5 delivers remarkable flash hiding and sound suppression performance. The patent pending ECO-Flow baffle system reduces backpressure for smooth cycling and less blowback while the patented end cap slashes visible muzzle flash. With its minimum 4.8” added length, the Dual-Lok PSR 5 puts up sound and flash numbers rivaling larger, longer cans.

The tubeless design allows for less weight and more volume, translating into a quieter silencer than many others in the class. The baffles are laser-welded, preventing human error during the manufacturing process.

The Dual-Lok system is integrated into the silencer body to provide maximum accuracy and enhance durability. A precision taper interface between the muzzle device and mount keeps POI shift consistent and repeatable.

While we do a comparison here with the Ops Inc style suppressor found on the Mk12 rifle, we would be remiss to note that this suppressor and mount look a lot like the Surefire suppressor for the M40A5 USMC sniper rifle.  But, keep in mind that there is a caliber difference.

Comparing with a Legend

The obvious comparison is the Allen Engineering AEM5. For a Mk12 clone there is no need because the AEM5 is the real deal. But for general use, there are some considerations to make. Lets look at some specifications.

Length Added

  • Dual-Lok PSR 5 - 4.8"
  • AEM5 - 4.5"

Weight

  • Dual-Lok PSR 5 - 14.9 oz.
  • AEM5 - 21 oz.

Mount

  • Dual-Lok PSR 5 - One piece locking Dual-Lok PSR taper mount
  • AEM5 - Two point system with a properly timed muzzle device and fitted taper collar

Materials

  • Dual-Lok PSR 5 - 17-4 Stainless Steel and 718 Inconel
  • AEM5 - 304 Stainless Steel

The AEM5 is a certified legend. But for those not building a clone, there are some real advantages to picking the Griffin. While they both add roughly the same overall length, the Griffin is 6.1 ounces lighter. At the end of the muzzle is the worst place to add weight so saving over a quarter pound is a big deal. Another big advantage is a one piece mount from Griffin. The AEM5 requires a separate collar and specifically timed muzzle brake. Mk12 style suppressors need a specific barrel contour. The Griffin over the barrel mount just requires a barrel diameter that will fit inside the mount. If you have the right tools, you can install a Griffin mount at home. And a final point to consider if backpressure. Being a legacy design, the AEM5 is on the gassy side. The Griffin PSR 5 has been designed with ECO-Flow baffles and a pressure reducing end cap to help mitigate backpressure. This can help reduce blowback to the shooter on more gas sensitive host weapons. Both are great cans for their intended applications.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. This item must ship to FFL holder. No civilian exceptions.

1) Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state.

2) Find your FFL… Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL and SOT to Charlie’s (Make them earn their fee!). Not every FFL is a SOT or Class 2 / Class 3 dealer.

3) Be patient! You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.

That’s it! We try to make this process as simple as possible for our customers. Please click the “Buying a Firearm” tab at the top of this page for more information.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED ITEM.  It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder.  No civilian exceptions.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:

1)     Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.

2)     A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.

3)     After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).

4)     Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)

5)     Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.

That’s it! We try to make this process as simple as possible for our customers, but if you are unfamiliar the process or have any other questions, please visit our How to Buy a Suppressor page for more details.
