The Schmidt & Bender 1-8x24 PM II ShortDot Dual CC in RAL 8000 — a dual-focal-plane LPVO with an illuminated first-focal-plane MDR-T6 reticle and a second-focal-plane FlashDot for true 1x red-dot use, fielded as a CQB/LPVO solution by multiple NATO special operations units. Part number 683-845-43E-K2-H2.

  • Dual focal plane design: FFP MDR-T6 reticle for ranging and holds; SFP FlashDot that stays the same size across the magnification range — one scope replaces a 1x RDS plus an LPVO.
  • True 1x with CC mode: at 1.1x, selecting CC makes the optic parallax-free from 7 to 10 meters — designed for in-extremis close-quarters use.
  • NVG-compatible illumination across eight brightness increments, with dedicated low-end clicks for night-vision use.
  • RAL 8000 finish — the German military desert tan specification (ST LT MTC ZC CCW turret configuration).
  • Made in Germany by Schmidt & Bender on manual production lines.

The 1-8x24 PM II ShortDot Dual CC is Schmidt & Bender's answer to the problem every LPVO designer runs into: a first-focal-plane reticle gets small and hard to see at 1x, and a second-focal-plane reticle changes its subtension value as the magnification dials up. This scope solves the problem by running two reticles on two focal planes — the MDR-T6 reticle lives on the FFP for ranging and ballistic holds at 4x through 8x, and the FlashDot red dot lives on the SFP, which means its apparent size stays constant whether the scope is dialed to 1x for a fast close-in presentation or to 8x for a precision shot. The CC (Close Combat) mode engages at just above 1x and makes the optic parallax-free from 7 to 10 meters, which is the distance band where most room-clearing shots are taken and where parallax error on a long LPVO can be the difference between a hit and a miss.

The MDR-T6 reticle (a Mildot-based military reticle) supports direct measurement of target and object sizes, with mil-spaced holds for wind and elevation. Illumination works across eight brightness increments and is compatible with Generation III night-vision aids used in a clip-on configuration. At higher magnifications above CC mode the scope is parallax-free to 100 meters and beyond, giving the shooter a usable precision envelope from across-the-room to mid-range.

The RAL 8000 finish is the German military desert tan color code. This specific configuration — turrets ST LT MTC ZC CCW — is the one adopted by multiple NATO SOF units for urban and close-engagement work, and the PM II glass and mechanical quality is Schmidt & Bender's top-tier production standard.

This is as much scope as anyone has built into an LPVO — and the build quality, at this price, comes out of Schmidt & Bender's German plant one unit at a time. We've got these when they're in. Copy that — grab one while they're here and we'll get it moving.
