We have a choice in charging handles.  Some are expensive name brands that look nice and others are actual improvements upon the original. 

LMT makes one of the better charging handles on the market.  It is solid and feels good.  We have not measured it, but it looks bigger than a standard mil-spec charging handle.  If you are looking for an improvement, and possibly less gas blow-back, you might want to give LMT a try.
