Leupold
Building on the legacy of the workhorse Mark 4 series and based on the scopes chosen by SOCOM, the Leupold Mark 4HD provides discerning shooters a lightweight and durable optic for any precision shooting need. Challenges in dynamic mixed range shooting often stem from the inability of scopes to maintain precision across variable distances and conditions. The Mark 4HD addresses this by combining cutting-edge optical engineering with robust mechanical systems, delivering improved accuracy and reliability over the older Mark 4 line.
The Leupold Mark 4HD 1-4.5X24 HPR-1 is purpose built for CMP High Power Competition. This scope provides a good balance of performance, versatility and useful features, while eliminating some of the needs of the battlefield, which tend to bog down the economics of many tactical scopes that are used for competition and law enforcement. This scope, part of Leupold's elite tactical line, is designed for sharp clarity and reliable performance under the most demanding conditions. Featuring M5C3 ZeroLock windage and elevation adjustments and an purpose driven second focal plane reticle, it's a simple and reliable LPVO.

The Leupold Mark 4HD is engineered for clarity and precision. The HD lenses counteract light dispersion and heighten image sharpness, providing immaculate clarity. The scope's M5C3 elevation turret are integral for maintaining shot accuracy over time and varied environmental conditions, offering definitive feedback and precise adjustments. The Mark 4HD provides more contrast and edge-to-edge clarity. The M5C3 ZeroLock turrets allow rapid adjustment in 1/4 MOA increments with visible and tactile indicators.
While this scope is purpose built for a competition service rifle, customer feedback has been very strong that this scope offers provides a great LPVO with actual 1x to 4.5x magnification, and lightweight and compact, and with HD glass, make this a very strong multipurpose scope for short to medium range tactical shooting.
While many long-range shooters have moved to first focal plane, the fact is that many casual shooters as well as target shooters have a long history of being used to second focal plane. There is no right answer, the benefits of SFP is that the recital never moves, and 2nd focal plane tends to be easier to learn. The Leupold HPR-1 reticle lends itself to very straight forward easy learning and intuitive design.
The scope tracks predictably with a precise return to zero. The 4:1 zoom ratio allows a good balance. Less and the shooter feels lacking. More, and the engineering starts to get difficult to maintain image quality without a large cost increase. The eyepiece is adjusted with a simple turn, while power adjustments are fast using the integrated throw lever. The 30mm main tube allows the user to pick from a broad range of mount options from many manufacturers.
