M4A1 and CQBR Rifles — Military-Clone AR-15 Configurations

The M4A1 is the U.S. military's primary individual carbine — the fully automatic successor to the M4, standardized across all four services and SOCOM. Charlie's Custom Clones carries M4A1 configurations from Colt, Daniel Defense, FN, and LMT, spanning Block I, Block II, and current-production variants. These are not generic AR-15s — they are rifles built to match the configuration actually issued to U.S. servicemembers.

The Block I M4A1 (c. 2001–2007) features the KAC RAS quad rail, AN/PEQ-2 laser, Surefire M951 light, and M68 Aimpoint — the configuration documented across OIF and OEF. The Block II M4A1 (c. 2008–present) transitions to the Daniel Defense or Troy SOPMOD II rail, AN/PEQ-15, and the M150 RCO or ACOG. What is the difference between an M4 and M4A1?
The M4 is the original three-round burst carbine. The M4A1 is fully automatic and has a heavier barrel profile that handles sustained fire better — the "government profile" vs. the M4's stepped barrel. All SOCOM M4s are M4A1 configuration. The Army has been converting its entire M4 fleet to M4A1 since 2015.
What is a SOPMOD kit?
SOPMOD (Special Operations Peculiar MODification) is the accessory suite issued with the M4A1 — it is not the rifle itself but the collection of optics, lasers, lights, and suppressors fielded with it. SOPMOD Block I includes the KAC RAS rail, AN/PEQ-2, M68 CCO, and Surefire M951. SOPMOD Block II upgraded to the DD/Troy rail, AN/PEQ-15 ATPIAL, and M150 RCO. The "SOPMOD rifle" term typically refers to a Block-correct M4A1 with the full accessory package.
