Black Hills makes a lot of the ammo that our military uses. It is quality ammo. It does not fail. These guys are meticulous at what they do. The 220 grain is perfect for home defense or truck gun. 200 grain leaves the muzzle at less than the speed of sound, so you do not get that "pop" associated with a supersonic bullet, allowing the .300BLK to run quieter, and with a suppressor, almost rimfire quiet.
The .300 BLK round is designed for powerful knockdown energy at close range. You are not going to win a long range shooting match with .300 BLK at 1050 FPS, but you are going to hit your target at 25 to 100 yards and fire a second shot with ease. 200 grain OTM is the preferred bullet for suppressed shooting, and the OTM gives a good balance of stopping power and aerodynamics. The OTM is found in the legendary Mk262 77 grain 5.56 NATO round.
