The Tikka T3X TAC A1 Tactical Rifle in .308 caliber with a 24" barrel represents a breakthrough in affordable precision engineering. Known for its military-grade specifications, this rifle offers outstanding long-range accuracy, ideal for both sport shooting and tactical applications. Unique in its design and performance, the Tikka T3X TAC A1 stands out as a top choice for shooters seeking reliability and precision without an exorbitant price tag. the 24" barrel model, here, is impressive as a long range target or tactical rifle.
Shooters often face a dilemma with factory rifles that offer limited accuracy and customization. The gap between these standard models and high-end custom rifles presents a challenge for those seeking precision without excessive investment. This challenge is further magnified when considering barrel length. A 24" barrel, typically reserved for match-grade accuracy and maximum ballistic performance, is not the most convenient for carrying in the field. This leaves shooters in a quandary between choosing optimal performance and practical field use.
The Tikka T3X TAC A1 Tactical Rifle provides an elegant solution to this problem. Its 24" barrel, synonymous with match-grade precision, is designed for maximum muzzle velocity, terminal energy, and accuracy, extending the transonic range for improved long-distance shooting. This rifle, designed to utilize a Tikka barreled action in the A1 chassis, represents a perfect fusion of factory-produced reliability and custom rifle accuracy. It offers shooters the benefits of a high-end, precision-engineered barrel within a practical, versatile chassis system, making it an ideal choice for those seeking top-tier performance in diverse shooting scenarios. Very few ATC A1 owners end up removing the barreled action from the chassis and replatforming the Tikka barreled action. While there might be better chassis and stocks, the A1 chassis fits the T3X action and provides a well performing rifle that is ready to go shooting the day you remove it from the box.
The Tikka T3X TAC A1's innovative design offers a solution for those seeking a high-performance, long-range rifle. Its cold hammer-forged barrel with a threaded muzzle, aluminum receiver with a Picatinny rail, and a comprehensive modular design make it a versatile choice for various shooting disciplines. This rifle is not just about performance; it’s about adapting to the shooter’s needs, providing an ergonomic and customizable experience.
The Tikka T3X TAC A1 is not just a tactical rifle; it's an amalgamation of Sako engineering and military experience to design a factory make precision rifle capable of consistently accurate 800 to 1,000 yard hits. One of the less talked about but crucial features is the rifle's barreled action. Unique to Tikka, the rifle avoids traditional bolt designs, opting instead for a two-lug bolt with a 70-degree throw. This design choice significantly impacts the shooting experience - the bolt lift is lighter and allows for faster cycling, which is crucial in dynamic shooting scenarios or competitive environments.
In terms of construction, the T3X TAC A1 features a solid aluminum block at the center of its chassis. This core piece serves multiple functions: it acts as the foundation for the side-folding stock, supports the M-Lok forend, and houses both the magazine and trigger. This integrated approach to design not only enhances the rifle's structural integrity but also improves its overall balance and handling. It's a subtle yet impactful design philosophy that separates Tikka from its competitors.
Another remarkable but often overlooked aspect is the positioning of the recoil lug. Unlike typical designs where the lug sits between the barrel and receiver, Tikka's design has the steel recoil lug inside the chassis. This placement ensures that the action is firmly seated, significantly increasing accuracy. The flat receiver coupled with the square recoil lug offers more surface area contact, translating to better stability and consistency in shots.
Moreover, Tikka's approach to the mating surfaces between the action and barrel is noteworthy. The forward action screw hole, located an inch in front of the receiver, is threaded to accept the barrel. This feature is not commonly found in factory actions and contributes to the T3X TAC A1's remarkable accuracy, especially important for heavy target and long barrels.
Precision Manufacturing: A lesser-known fact about the Tikka T3X TAC A1 is the precision involved in its manufacturing process. The cold hammer-forged barrel, a hallmark of Tikka's craftsmanship, is not just about durability; it's about achieving a level of precision that is usually found in much higher-priced rifles. This process ensures that each rifle barrel is perfectly consistent, contributing significantly to the rifle's renowned accuracy.
Adaptability in Field Conditions: While the compact design of the magazine might seem a minor detail, it significantly enhances the rifle's usability in field conditions. The double-stack, center-feed magazine's reduced height makes it more manageable when shooting from improvised positions, a feature highly valued in tactical and field scenarios but not often highlighted in product descriptions.
In summary, the Tikka T3X TAC A1 Tactical Rifle, with its innovative design and precision engineering, offers a level of adaptability, accuracy, and quality that sets it apart in its category. These insights provide a deeper understanding of the rifle’s capabilities, appealing to both seasoned shooters and those who appreciate the finer details of firearm engineering.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM. It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder. No civilian exceptions.
Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:
1) Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.
2) A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.
3) After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).
4) Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)
5) Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.
That’s it! We try to make this process as simple as possible for our customers, but if you are unfamiliar the process or have any other questions, please visit our How to Buy a Firearm page for more details.
