The SOL Strategic Embedded Front Rail (EFR) is the clone-correct night vision rail for an M40A5 USMC sniper rifle build, machined to the same footprint as the original PGW Defence EFR that shipped on the issue M40A5.
The Marine Corps' M40 sniper rifle evolved through the M40A1, A3, and A5. The A5 added an embedded forend rail to the A3 chassis so the shooter could mount a clip-on PVS-22 forward of the Schmidt & Bender day optic without losing zero. The earliest EFRs were built in Canada by PGW Defence; later production moved to Badger Ordnance in the USA. PGW and Badger used slightly different footprints, and McMillan cut the A4 USMC stock inlet to match whichever EFR the build was spec'd for.
PGW has since stopped producing the M40-spec EFR. SOL Strategic stepped in with a rail that shares the PGW building footprint — which is why this part drops into a PGW-inlet McMillan A4 and delivers the same exterior look on a clone-correct M40A5.
Note: The M40A5 stocks sold by Charlie's Custom Clones are inlet to accept the SOL Strategic EFR. Bedding is required for a rigid install.
