Holographic sights have been around since 1996 when the company that would become EOTech released the Bushnell Holosight. For over three decades, EOTech has been popular with warfighters, competition shooters, and prepared citizens. The EXPS series of holographic sights is a favorite due to its addition of an integral QD mount to the familiar EOTech feature set. One thing EOTech hasn't done, however, is ship optics in mount heights that have become popular over the last few years. With the proliferation of night vision in the market, demand for taller mounts allowing passive aiming through NODs has become a competitive space. While it's possible to just get a Picatinny riser and clamp an EXPS to it, this adds more weight than necessary and potentially an additional failure point. Why mount a QD on a QD?

Scalarworks is known for their featherweight mounts for a broad spectrum of optics, they have stepped up and created an elegant solution to eliminate redundancy when raising the EOTech EXPS series of optics. The new LEAP 12 actually replaces the QD mount that comes with  the EOTech EXPS and makes the riser integral to the optic. Lose some ounces and complexity and gain a better mounting solution. Magnifiers aren't left out either. The LEAP/12 includes an optional Picatinny rail section for piggybacking a flip to side magnifier. This means one QD point can remove two optics. Pairing that with Scalarworks engineering and the excellent return to zero ClickDrive system gives industry leading performance in an ultralight package.

The LEAP mount is CNC milled from 7075-T6 Aluminum. This material choice, coupled with the use of 4140H steel hardware, results in a mount that offers absolute rigidity. The mount's strength has been tested extensively, withstanding up to 1500lbs of force, making it one of the most robust quick-detach red dot mounts on the market.
