Daniel Defense Mk12 5.56 NATO SPR Style Rifle

A Modern Interpretation of the Special Purpose Rifle Mod 1.

The Daniel Defense Mk12 combines the heritage of the Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) with contemporary manufacturing techniques, offering a semi-automatic platform designed for enhanced accuracy. This rifle follows the lines of the Mk12 Mod 1, aiming to meet the needs of marksmen who value precision without compromising the versatility of the AR-15 system.

Let's face it:  Some people just want to have that DD brand, and why not?  Daniel Defense makes some of the most reliable and best shooting production AR style rifles on the market.  At Charlie's we are proud to offer the DD near clone Mk12 rifle.  We also make clone-correct custom rifles.  Something for everyone.

Key Features:

  • Daniel Defense factory Mk12 near-clone rifle
  • 18" Cold Hammer Forged stainless steel barrel
  • Rifle-length direct impingement gas system with Mk12 gas block
  • 12" Daniel Defense DDM4 Rail with Bolt Up system
  • Geissele SSA 2-Stage Trigger
  • Ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP Charging Handle
  • Daniel Defense furniture

Central to the Mk12's design is its 18" proprietary blended stainless steel barrel. The Cold Hammer Forging process aims to create optimal alignment between chamber and bore, while the Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) finish enhances durability. This combination contributes to the rifle's accuracy potential and longevity.

The rifle-length direct impingement gas system features a Mk12 gas block built to Crane (Naval Surface Warfare Division) specifications for SOCOM, reflecting the Mk12's military lineage. This setup provides a smooth recoil impulse and reliable cycling, beneficial for consistent performance.

Customization options abound with the 12" Daniel Defense DDM4 Rail, which utilizes their proprietary Bolt Up system for secure attachment. This free-floating Picatinny quad rail allows for a wide range of accessories, enabling shooters to tailor the Mk12 to their preferences, while also aiding accuracy by minimizing external influences on the barrel. A sturdy Picatinny rail is perfect for bipods and things like lasers that require holding zero.

The inclusion of the Geissele SSA (Super Semi-Automatic) 2-Stage Trigger is a notable feature. The semi-auto variant of the Geissele Super Select Fire made for SOCOM, this trigger offers a light first stage followed by a crisp, clean break in the second stage, enhancing shooter control and facilitating precise shot placement. The SSA's design aims to improve practical accuracy while maintaining the reliability needed for duty and defensive use.

Daniel Defense's attention to ergonomics is evident in their in-house designed furniture. The Daniel Defense stock provides a comfortable cheek weld and includes a non-slip rubber buttpad, while the pistol grip offers improved hand positioning and features texturing for enhanced control in various conditions.

The Mk12's heritage dates back to the early 2000s when U.S. Special Operations Forces required a precision variant of the M16. Daniel Defense has built upon this concept, incorporating modern manufacturing techniques to enhance performance and reliability.  At CCC, we call this a "near-clone" as Daniel Defense builds upon the precise nature of a clone correct model, but takes some license to improve upon the original, to present a more modern rifle.

Note: The barrel contour of this rifle is not correct for using an Allen Engineering pattern silencer. Customers interested in using such suppressors should contact us to discuss possible options.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM.  It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder.  No civilian exceptions.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:

1)     Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.

2)     A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.

3)     After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).

4)     Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)

5)     Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.

That’s it! We try to make this process as simple as possible for our customers, but if you are unfamiliar the process or have any other questions, please visit our How to Buy a Firearm page for more details.

California and New York residents please, click here. The process may be different due to state specific laws.

NOTE: The free shipping option does not apply to full rifles, unless purchased with a riflescope.  If you choose free shipping at check-out, we will bill you for shipping later.
