When a Remington 700 short action has been drilled and tapped for the heavier 8-40 screw, the rail has to match. The Badger Ordnance 306-06-8 is that rail: the same one-piece steel platform Badger builds for precision and duty rifles, cut for the larger screw pattern that gunsmiths favor on custom and hard-use builds.

The 20 MOA forward cant (5.8 mils) tilts the scope down toward the bore, so your zero sits closer to the center of the elevation travel and you keep more adjustment in reserve for long shots. The integral recoil lug keys into the receiver so the rail cannot walk under recoil. A true MIL-STD 1913 slot pattern accepts any Picatinny ring or mount.

Check Your Receiver First

A factory Remington 700 is drilled for the smaller #6-48 screw. This rail will not bolt to those holes. If your receiver has not been re-tapped to 8-40, you want the Badger 306-06 rail with #6-48 screws. Building a USMC M40A3 or M40A5 clone? That receiver is lug-slotted and takes the dedicated Badger 306-06-A3 USMC rail, not this one.
