Mil-Spec
The Atrius Mil-Spec Forced Reset Selector is a drop-in, three-position selector for the AR-15. It adds a forced trigger reset to the fire-control group you already have.
It looks like a standard issue selector and runs with a mil-spec trigger that has no rear U-notch relief cut. The third position, Super-Semi, comes without swapping in a cassette trigger. If you're building a retro carbine and want the controls to look like they came off the rack decades ago, this is the version Atrius made for you.
From the outside, your clone keeps a plain, issue-style selector. Nobody at the range will notice anything different until you rotate past Semi.
In Semi, the rifle runs exactly as it always has. In Super-Semi, the rearward-moving bolt carrier presses the selector's reset lever down against the rear of the trigger, pushing the trigger forward to reset it. Each shot still requires a separate function of the trigger. And it isn't a binary trigger: no shot is fired on trigger release.
The result is fast, rhythmic shooting from a rifle that still looks period-correct on the bench. On a retro carbine, it's about as much fun as a trip to the range gets.
Both put a forced reset in the selector, but they get there differently. The Atrius keeps your existing trigger, as long as it has no U-notch, and keeps a single-side, traditional look. Its lighter, spring-loaded reset lever is a small detail that helps it run smoothly. The ARC-Fire V2 kit ships with ambidextrous levers and a pre-cut trigger, because most mil-spec triggers need the SS cut to work with it. If you want the most original-looking selector on your clone, the Atrius Mil-Spec FRS is the natural choice.
A forced reset selector relies on the bolt carrier to do the resetting, so the rest of the rifle matters. Atrius lists these minimum requirements:
Calibers: .223 Rem / 5.56 NATO and .300 BLK. Not for AR-10 / SR-25 platforms. Atrius's own customer reviews include a suppressed .300 BLK carbine running reliably.
Running a Geissele trigger? This standard lever isn't designed for Geissele 2-stage triggers; Atrius makes a separate G-Lever model. If your rifle or trigger has been modified to Super Safety specifications, check compatibility first. The Atrius uses a solid lever cam rather than the Super Safety's dovetailed cam, which Atrius notes allows about 15° of play.
