The SureFire SFA2-556-1/2-28 is a closed-tine adapter specifically designed and engineered for compatibility with SureFire Blank Firing Adapters or any Mil-Spec BFA used in training evolutions that require a blank firing adapter. Like every SureFire SOCOM adapter, the SFA2-556-1/2-28 also serves as a rock-solid, precision mounting platform for SureFire SOCOM Fast-Attach Suppressors, as well as serving as a standalone muzzle device. It closely represents a traditional birdcage flash hider, with wrench flats for ease of installation. Just like the other SOCOM muzzle devices, this adapter is precision machined from heat-treated stainless steel, which is highly resistant to gas and particle erosion. Additionally, it utilizes multiple bearing surfaces to ensure proper suppressor alignment every time.
Three questions often come up about this flash hider, so let's try to address these:
QUESTION: Will this flash hider support the Warden blast diverter
ANSWER: Yes it will. This flash hider is part of the SOCOM family and will work fine with the Surefire Warden.
QUESTION: Is this flash hider long enough to pin and weld to a 14-1/2" barrel to make the barrel 16" for non-NFA status.
ANSWER: Generally speaking, Charlie's recommends 2.06" minimum for pin and welding a muzzle device. This Surefire muzzle device is a little shorter than most, at 1.90", and thus not ideal for a pin and weld. It is possible, but that involves some significant spacing and shims. We will not pin and weld it, but maybe you know a more talented gunsmith.
QUESTION: If I later want to add a suppressor, which suppressors will fit with this mounting device?
ANSWER: As of this writing in 2023, most Surefire suppressors will work just fine. Any of the 5.56 or 7.62 suppressors with the SOCOM name in it will be mounted just fine on this flash hider platform. There are some "legacy" suppressors that may fit, but may not be safe. If you have a specific question, ask one of our sales team to double check for you.
