Aimpoint M68 PRO Red-Dot combo with Wilcox mount

Perfect for your M4A1 or Mk18 clone build, the Aimpoint PRO (M68 replacement) comes with a new Wilcox ECOS mount, both factory new

The PRO is a replacement for the CompM2, which has been discontinued by the manufacturer.  The PRO has pretty much an identical look of the CompM2, with some improved optics and battery life, without some of the deep water submergibility that is not needed, unless you are a Navy Seal.

OVERVIEW

Charlie's Custom Clones has taken the iconic Wilcox mount, used in the original Mk18 and M4A1 rifles during the global war on terror, and has recreated the CompM2 optic, also known as the M68, but using the more modern Aimpoint PRO -- which has the same body shape as the CompM2 -- and replaced the new PRO knobs with the "new old stock" round caps and a three-way rubber band, in a period-correct look of the CompM2.  I dare you:  You will not know it is a PRO until you look under the right side to see the Aimpoint name and PRO and serial number.  Otherwise, it is identical to the CompM2, but modernized.

All factory direct from Wilcox and from Aimpoint.  Don't let "clone" in Charlie's Custom Clones make you think this is a fake.  This arrives in the Aimpoint Pro factory box, and CCC has removed the modern caps and replaced them with Aimpoint factory replacement caps and rubber band, mounted the Wilcox, and boxed it all back up.  The Aimpoint warranty for the PRO applies.

This is a combo package pairing a new Aimpoint PRO red dot sight with a new Wilcox ECOS mount. Charlie's Custom Clones has taken the Aimpoint PRO — which shares the same body shape as the discontinued CompM2 — and replaced the modern caps with "new old stock" round caps and a three-way rubber band to give it the period-correct look of the original CompM2 / M68 CCO.  It's designed for M4A1 and Mk18 clone builds.

Key details:

  • The Wilcox mount is a new, military-contract unit direct from the manufacturer — described as clone-correct for the Aimpoint CompM2 / M68.
  • The PRO still arrives in its factory Aimpoint box and carries the full Aimpoint warranty.
  • The original PRO mount and modern caps are not included — they've been swapped for the period-correct parts and the Wilcox mount.
  • This is the CLONE CORRECT Model, with period correct parts.

Aimpoint PRO highlights:

  • 2 MOA red dot
  • ~3 years of constant-on battery life (single battery)
  • Night vision compatible
  • Waterproof to 150 feet
  • Hard anodized aluminum housing
  • Front and rear flip covers (rear is transparent for emergency use with covers closed)
  • Threaded front lens for anti-reflection device (ARD)

The M68 Close Combat Optic (CCO) is the U.S. military's designation for the Aimpoint CompM2 red dot sight, adopted under that nomenclature as part of the military's standardized naming conventions where "M" denotes a military item number. The "Close Combat Optic" name reflects its intended role — providing rapid target acquisition at close to medium ranges in combat environments. The Aimpoint CompM2 earned the M68 designation after winning the military contract in the late 1990s, succeeding earlier Aimpoint models that had seen service since the 1980s. The CCO became the standard individual weapon optic across the U.S. Army and saw widespread adoption by other branches and special operations forces, largely replacing iron sights as the primary aiming system on infantry rifles.

The M68 CCO was most prominently fielded on M4 and M4A1 carbines and M16A4 rifles during the Global War on Terror, seeing extensive combat use in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001 onward. It became a signature component of SOPMOD (Special Operations Peculiar Modification) Block I kits, where it was frequently paired with the Wilcox ECOS-N mount on Mk18 CQBR (Close Quarters Battle Receiver) uppers and M4A1 carbines used by units like DEVGRU, Delta Force, Army Rangers, and Marine Force Recon. The Wilcox mount provided a quick-detach capability and a co-witness height that worked well with backup iron sights and night vision setups. Conventional Army and Marine infantry units also fielded the M68 extensively at the squad level, making it one of the most widely issued combat optics in U.S. military history. The CompM2 was eventually supplemented and in many cases replaced by the Aimpoint CompM4 (designated M68 as well under updated contracts), though the CompM2 remains iconic of the early GWOT era.

QUESTION:  I know that Aimpoint has released the 50th Anniversary model, how is this different?
ANSWERWell, you do not get the collector coin with this model, but all of the knobs and the connectors are period correct.  The Anniversary model is plain Jane PRO.  It all depends on your preference.

The Wilcox mount is hard to find.  This is new, military contract, direct from the manufacturer, and is "clone-correct" for the Aimpoint CompM2 / M68.
