Factory new (old stock), Colt upper receiver with "C" marked on the left side, raised up, as this mark is from the original forging. The "raised C" mark is from years back. This is factory new. Most are take-offs from new guns or upper receiver groups. Some are purchased as a part. Most have world famous Colt oil on them. Inside has a gray dry lube finish. Marked M4 in the front, and with M4 feedramps.
The Colt upper receivers are not made with a "C" mark anymore, and the raised C goes back a number of years, and is highly desirable for clone builders. So if you are looking for a great clone build project, this is what you want.
Note: Colt has used, and continues to use a number of original forgings. These forging marks have the appearance of either a raised square, a raised keyhole, or a raised A with broken arches. All are 100% legitimate, and your 100% Colt upper will have one of these marks.
In the past, we at Charlie's have not separated by forging, but we received a number of requests, so have made several popular forgings available. By far, we have the most Cerro forgings (keyhole). Some have asked if these are authentic, and we traced the source back to Cerro. The reason we bring this up, is that very old Cerro forgings had bolt C and keyhole markings, and these are rather thin. What we believe to have happened is that during the 2015 bankruptcy, Cerro had a number of forgings bound for Colt, and held up when Colt went into Chapter 11. The forgings were then finished to military specs and sold, and Charlie's has a number of these, very much, in the same way, Charlie's came into some Colt barrels around the same time.
