Nodak M16 Retro Lower Receiver XM16E1 dull gray anodized finish, stripped
Correct Lower for Replicas of Early U.S. Army M16 Rifles
The XM16E1 lower receiver is a replica of the receiver on the original XM16E1 rifles developed for the U.S. Army in the 1960s. This lower is based on the Nodak Spud forging, to produce a receiver that replicates the exact contours and "partial fence" configuration of the original XM16E1, making it perfect for a Retro build replicating the early Army M16.
Charlie's has worked with Brownell's to bring this Nodak forging to our customers at a very reasonable price.
The XM16E1 lower receivers starts life as a 7075-T6 aluminum forging that is precision-machined to final dimensions before receiving a gray hardcoat anodized finish that gives the best match to the color of the originals. Simple, engraved markings on this lower won’t detract from the period look and include the following:
- Model: XBRN16E1
- Cal: 5.56mm
- Mfg: Brownells Inc.
Current-production AR-15 components will work perfectly with this XM16E1 lower receiver.
The original XM16E1 lower receiver was developed for the "improved" M16 rifles produced by Colt Manufacturing for the U.S. Army from 1964 through 1967. These receivers were found on the first M16 rifles issued to the troops in Vietnam, before the arrival of the M16A1. XM16E1 lowers were used on the first M16s with the forward assist, as well as various early M16 carbines.
Features specific to the XBRN16E1 lower that make it a close replica of the originals include the proper front takedown lug profile and the contour of the metal surrounding the receiver extension. Also, the XM16E1 lower was the first with the "partial fence" above the magazine release and just below the ejection port cover. Most forged AR-15 "carry handle" lower receivers produced today have the A2 profile, which is incorrect for reproductions of early M16 rifles.
This XM16E1 lower is the correct receiver for building reproductions of the following rifles:
- Model 604
- Model 605 Carbine
- Model 606
- Model 607 Carbine
- Model 608 Survival Carbine
- Model 609 "XM177E1" Carbine
- Model 610 "XM177" Carbine
NOTE: MUST READ FOR FIREARM AND LOWER RECEIVER ORDERS:
THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM. IT MUST SHIP TO AN Federal Firearms License holder. No civilian exceptions.
When you check-out: We no longer take PayPal, as it has caused some confusion on the purchase of firearms, which is contrary to PayPal policies, and we had no way to restrict it just for FFL items.
A firearm cannot be sent directly to you. I am sure you know this, but for the fake-news reading this, who might think that a firearm can be mailed to a buyer, I have to reiterate: A firearm or federal regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor), only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive such an item. It would be good to know your FFL and their shipping address before purchasing. If you know the FFL address, please put this in your shipping address at check-out. Any deviation from this, and your order could be delayed. Sorry, have to have strict controls here. We have a very manual process to reconcile orders to FFL transfer agents. The easier you make it for us, the less likely your order will be held-up. This is a highly regulated process, and compliance is monitored and enforced by the ATF.
Also your FFL must contact us by email, and send us a scanned copy of their firearms license. We prefer a .pdf copy, and not a .jpg. This is your responsibility to obtain and have emailed to us, or snail mail. We do not have a fax machine. Best practice is for your FFL to note your name and order number in the email header. We will not follow-up with your FFL. They should send to: FFL@charliescustomclones.com . If you forget, you can email us at the return address of any of the order confirmations that you receive.
Note: California residents, click here for CA compliant processing. This will also work for New York residents. We will act on your behalf and instructions to ship to restrictive states, but ultimately, it is your responsibility to know the local and state laws. We are in Virginia, and cannot, and do not know all the nuances of other states. If we ship to your FFL, and there is an issue, we cannot accept a return, so please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.
Please note our shipping timelines. We do not ship immediately. Also, if you choose the free 5-7 day shipping, those orders ship after all other forms of shipping chosen. Express shipping is given priority.
Be sure to read our return policy. While your satisfaction is our primary concern, we are limited in a highly regulated business environment by what we can and cannot do, and the number of local, state and federal regulations. We do not accept returns for ammunition and firearms, other than obvious defects. Your gun dealer or transfer agent is responsible for inspection for defects:
