Mil-Spec M4A1 Vertical Foregrip (VFG) — The Standard-Issue Picatinny Grip for SOPMOD Block I and Block II Builds
This is the military-issue vertical foregrip that has been standard equipment on M4A1, Mk18, and M16A4 platforms since the original SOPMOD Block I kit. The VFG mounts directly to any MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail — KAC RAS, KAC M5 RAS, Daniel Defense RIS II, or any standard quad rail. If you are building a clone-correct carbine from any era of GWOT, this is the grip that belongs on it.
Why This Grip
The mil-spec VFG is injection-molded from glass-filled nylon — the same construction used across USSOCOM-issued accessories. It is intentionally simple: a single cross-bolt locks it to the rail, and a spring-loaded detent prevents the bolt from backing out under recoil. There is no rubber overmold, no storage compartment, no battery holder. This is the grip as it was issued, and it has survived decades of service because it does exactly one thing well — it provides a positive, repeatable grip index on a railed forend.
Compatibility
Fits any standard Picatinny (MIL-STD-1913) rail section. Clone-correct for M4A1 SOPMOD Block I (KAC RAS), M4A1 Block II (DD RIS II), Mk18 Mod 0, Mk18 Mod 1, and M16A4 (KAC M5 RAS) configurations. If your rail has a Picatinny bottom rail, this grip fits.
