The panels are interchangeable — same material, same dimensions, same rib count — and have been issued on M4A1 carbines across SOPMOD Block I and Block II configurations. The ribbed polymer insulates the support hand from barrel heat on the aluminum RAS rail and provides a textured grip surface.
