The Mk16 is the latest evolution in Geissele's Super Modular Rail. It is based upon the Mk14, but then adds upper tabs to lock-in the alignment between the upper receiver and the rail.
Geissele has a number of "Super Modular Rails," and like their triggers, each is a little different. The Mk16 has its roots in the US Special Forces URGI upgrade starting in 2015 for the M4 infantry carbine. The Mk16 rail features M-LOK on seven sides and Picatinny on the entire length of the top. The rail itself is thinner than others, which cuts down on weight, and some prefer its slim profile. The Mk16 is one of our favorites at Charlie's, and while the DDC color is more often found on US Army rifles, the black is classic. The later rails are stamped with Geissele's branding without laser etched white, and top rail features engraved T-marks. While the rails is thin, it is very strong.
And additional feature with this rail, is the versatility to mate with any forged upper receiver. Geissele's Super Duty line has dove-tail fitted uppers and rails, which make it impossible to swap with non-Super Duty products.
