At these prices, take a good look before you commit to an ACOG. Charlie's love's Trijicon ACOGs, but it is hard to pass on an Specter. Available in black (only) with two reticle options. See note on availability and shipping times.
The ELCAN Specter series of military scopes is made by Elcan, a division of Raytheon of Canada, and distributed by Armament Technologiy, known for the best of breed brands, for both military and tactical and sniper shooting, and high performance long-range civilian precision shooting: ELCAN, Tangent Theta and Tenebraex.
The SpecterOS4x Optical Sight is a fixed power 4x optical telescopic weapon sight which mounts on a MIL-STD-1913 ‘Picatinny’ rail with an integrated A.R.M.S. mount ! The optical sight consists of single main housing that encloses the optics, and the integral mount assembly. This design places all of the optics in a sealed, hardened optical housing protected from the environment.
All mechanical adjustments of the sight are controlled by the elevation and azimuth zeroing mechanisms in the mount assembly.
The optical housing has a 32mm objective lens and an 8mm diameter exit pupil, which provides excellent vision in low light levels. It also provides for rapid target acquisition and identification at short, intermediate, and long ranges. The sight incorporates LED’s for red dot and reticle illumination under CQB or low light conditions. The ballistically compensated reticle consists of a cross hair or chevron with horizontal stadia lines for shooting at various ranges.
The SFOV4-C1 (CX5855 reticle) model incorporates a Vertical Subtention Optical Rangefinder (VSOR) within the field of view. The optical sight has no internal surfaces that will reflect laser interrogation.
The mount has two levers which fasten the sight to the ‘Picatinny’ rail and allow the sight to be removed and reattached without the need to re-zero. The mount is adjustable for zero in both elevation and azimuth (windage).
The A.R.M.S. integrated mount is designed to withstand rough usage in operation. Anti-backlash springs in the elevation and azimuth mechanisms permit flexibility, but always return the sight to the zero position. A tension spring between the optical main body and the mount rail grabber removes vertical movement by applying tension to the two halves of the mount.
Note: Take a look at the reticles. The CX5755 reticle is very much like an ACOG, and has the red chevron, with ballistic drop upt to 800m for 5.56mm ammo (M193, M855 or M262), with hash marks to the left and right for moving targets and/or windage. The CX5855 has more rangefinding, and is a solid "plex" style reticle with an open center and illuminated red chevron, and BDC. Hard choice, as both are really great.
Note on availability and shipping times: Charlie's will be getting this scopes in regularly, but due to the new pricing and popularity of the scope, we may be back-ordered from time to time. Place your order, and please be patient. We do not expect unusually long lead times, but these come from Canada, and we are also second fiddle to US Military needs, so your order could take a week or two to ship. Not long, but often not immediate.
