Mil-Spec
The "Dog Bone" mil-spec M4/AR-15 upper receiver with T-engraved top rail and installed hardware — a Demco Group-built upper forged from either Mueller or Anchor Harvey forgings, configured with M4 feed ramps and clone-correct T-marks for military-pattern builds.
The Dog Bone nickname comes from the distinctive shape of the upper's forge marks. These uppers have been seen in the field on a range of M4 and M16-style rifles, which is why the clone-correct community seeks them out — particularly for builds that mate against Colt, FN, or LMT lowers where the upper provenance matters.
Demco Group in Florida mills these from either Mueller or Anchor Harvey forgings. Both forgings yield a finished upper to the same mil-spec dimensional envelope; the functional difference is essentially zero. Collectors tend to chase the Mueller forgings for bragging rights, but for a shooting build, either is correct. You get your pick from what is in stock.
Finish is honest mil-spec hard-coat — expect light handling marks and the slightly matte, chalky look that characterizes military uppers built for function over cosmetic show. These are built for performance on a carbine.
Charlie's also offers a similar upper without T-marks if the build calls for a plain top rail.
The T-marked Dog Bone upper is the clean foundation for a mil-pattern M4A1 or M16A4 clone. Grab one and build it right.
