These genuine Colt 4-Position Buffer Tubes come complete with all the hardware needed. They are made from 7075 impact extrusions, finished in type III hardcoat anodizing and have dry film lube applied internally.
Well, not sure that Colt is wholly unique in producing quality components, but what we know is that they take a little extra step in selecting good durable components that are battle ready, and rejecting cheap shit that can break. the buffer, or extension tube is an excellent example. The first most obvious give away is this Colt product has 4 stops, and most AR tubes have 6. Is 4 better than 6? Not really, but few crappy manufacturers make a tube with 4 stops, and 4-stops is a milspec requirement, although some SBRs have a TDP for 6-stops. The next is this is a forged product, that is milled or machined to precise tolerances. You can buy an extruded aluminum buffer tube that finds its way from Asia for 1/3 of the price. They both will work, until one does not. If you are plinking, who cares. If you are using a rifle in the line of duty or self-defense, that is a failure you want to avoid. The last part is the dry lube. This is a dead giveaway that a buffer tube is made to military standards. The dry film costs more to spray inside, but it provides a natural coating to both give a lubrication to the movement of the buffer and spring, and also guard against wear.
