Bone-Dri gun cases and bags are designed to prevent rust by removing moisture from firearms and keeping them dry. The cases use Absorbits Moisture Removal Technology to extract moisture from inside the firearm. When used with gun oil, the bags can prevent rust and corrosion.
Bone-Dri’s style of bag is very generous with optics space than many other name-brand bags do not have. It measures a respectable 46.67x13x5 inches with three magazine/accessory pouches, a large general pouch, and a divided dual rifle compartment. In addition to a carry handle, the rear side of the back has shoulder straps to carry on your back like a backpack.
Bone-Dri uses 800D PVC nylon, which is a very rugged and expensive material, if you were wondering about the build quality. Internal padding is generous, and the interior has a rigid frame with Velcro straps for securing your guns. There are two large, tapered shoulder straps that measure 3 to 3.5 inches wide and 0.5 inches thick with a chest clip so you can carry it like a backpack.
The attention to strength is strength is evident in the design. The bag features heavy-duty, lockable zippers made of titanium, multiple cinch straps and clips, and reinforced anchor points with heavy stitching.
The bag does expand quite a bit if you’re stuffing it with extra gear. I personally carried it out to the range with two scoped rifles, nine AR magazines, spotting monocular, shooting bag, and plenty of ammo. The total weight passed 30 pounds with room to spare.
All guns are at risk for rust. It does not matter from which material your gun is made – steel, aluminum, titanium. By nature, it will have the tendency to rust.
The threat of rust is not just in humid climates or wet conditions; condensation happens in virtually any climate when you take your firearm from hot temperatures into a cooler place (indoor air conditioning, gun safe, etc.).
Moisture from wet weather, water or humidity can get trapped inside a firearm and begin to corrode the metal. Regular cleaning, lubrication, and storing firearms in a dry environment like a rust prevention gun case will help mitigate the risk of corrosion caused by moisture.
Most of us just wipe down our firearms’ exterior surfaces but don’t think about the internals, only to find corrosion when we deep clean them.
