This is a mil-spec forged steel low profile gas block, ready to drill and mount to a virgin barrel. This is a front sight post which has been milled down to remove the front sight and the solid military grade gas block is what remains. Yes, we think there are more attractive gas blocks, but not more effective. The low profile gas block typically sits under a rail when installed, so effectiveness trumps beauty.
With a 0.750" inner diameter, this gas block will fit most AR-15 style barrels, unless specifically marked as "pencil barrels" which are typically 0.625" at the gas block journal. Also be aware some heavy contour barrels are even thicker. Certainly, this will fit a Colt, Daniel Defense, Ballistic Advantage, Criterion, FN, LMT, and Geissele barrel, for example.
This could be DIY project, or you can ask a gunsmith or armorer for help. You will need a proper drill press and taper reamer, as the cross pins used are taper pins.
