Knights Armament (KAC) 11-rib RAS rail cover set, FDE (Custom)

This is a set of three (3) KAC full-size rail panels, custom Cerakoted in "Cerakote FDE" in traditional prep spray and bake at low temperature.  These are USED, but not beatened, and then Cerakoted.  Looks close to brand new.

These rails have the full strength of the interior high-temperature resistant KAC polymer and the Certakote ceramic coating.  We removed the clips, and built a tool to put them back on without scratching.

Chalie's gets some turn-in rifles with KAC rails that have been gently used.  You can expect to see some dings and scrapes, but these rails look quite a bit better with a Cerakote coat than they did in the black.  The used rail covers have been cleaned in Acetone, and then lightly grit blasted, so we are taking away any dirt and smudges.  Ther underylying scrapes will still be there, but many of our customers are going to use their rifles hard, so this is a good alternative.

We remove the clips with a special tool we found, and then prep and coat, and put the clip back on.  Sounds simple, but we had trouble with traditional tools which scratched the surface of the rail cover.  Now we just get it done.  After ruining a dozen rail covers, we do have a simple process.

the color is standard FDE, a darker flat dark earth in Cerakote 265, which is their proprietary FDE blend.  They look good, work well.  Sold in sets of three (3), each set was prepped and painted and baked with the same batch, the same temperature, the same day, so you are assured of consistent look, feel, texture and color.

KAC’s iconic Ribbed Rail Panels have seen use all over the globe on US military M4 Carbines. The lightweight polymer panels are ribbed for an enhanced grip, and help insulate the support hand from barrel heat. While originally designed for use on the KAC M4 RIS and M4 RAS rails, these panels are also compatible with many other railed handguards.

Note:  This is not solid polymer FDE, but black polymer which has been coated in an FDE color.  We have not been able to scratch the surface to show the black, but with extreme wear or cutting, you could.

Why Cerakote?  Well, we have have been using Duracoat, and are quite happy with both results.  The Cerakote tends to be a little bit flatter in color, and a tad bit darker.  We will continue to use the Duracoat, as we have developed our own color in Durakote.  The why is to give you choice.  We use both Cerakote and Durakote for the rail covers, as well as other coatings, like Norell's Moly Resin and Gunkote for other applications.  Each has its place.  Very durable, does not chip, and you have to really try to remove it.  If we did not tell you it was coated, you probably would not realize it.  And the color...  GTG !!
