Heckler & Koch SP5 9mm - Factory MP5 clone Semi-Auto Pistol

Something to cheer about. A firearm that everyone needs to own.

HK has successfully brought a semi-auto MP5 style pistol to market in the US, and for under $4k.

Made in Germany, 100% Heckler & Koch. Some would say, "what took you so long?" It is not easy to digest all of the German export laws and the US import laws. Probably the two worst combinations. That is why you see many MP5 style guns being made in far away lands where neither English nor German is spoken. When asked about the difference between the German made SP5 and one of the competitors who make similar pistols on HK machinery, the HK spokesperson said something to the effect that German engineering and craftsmanship could not compare to countries in mud-huts. Harsh. Either way, with embargoes and bribery necessary to get MP5-style weapons to market, Charlie's is happy to see what is truly a semi-auto MP5 from HK.

This weapon comes with no brace or buttstock, but does have a nice soft case, two 30-Round magazines and an old-fashioned HK "bungee" sling. The lower section has semi and safety, but can be replaced with an HK full auto lower, without making it a machine gun, as long as you don't drop in a full auto trigger. That would not be good. The SB Tactical collapsible brace would be a nice addition. Be careful with any ideas to add a buttstock and create a short barreled rifled. There are some very serious restrictions, known as 922(r) that restrict foreign made short barreled rifles. Better to keep it in pistol form, or consult a lawyer. Oh, yeah, you will definitely want a 9mm suppressor. The SP5 comes with the three lug muzzle, and with sub-sonic 9mm, this is a very quite pistol.

This gun is a 30-Rounder, but the same weapon is offered in 10-Round version, or you can trade 30-Round magazines for 10-Round for a small fee. Call us and ask.

The Heckler & Koch MP5 is arguably the most imitated submachine gun in the world. But even a pretty good copy is still just a copy. The truth is, you can only get a real HK from HK. And now there is finally an authentic sporting version of the MP5 in the US, and it’s a real HK. The New SP5 will make all those generic MP5 copies out there look like nothing more than gun store consolation prizes.

The SP5 was developed by Heckler & Koch as a semiautomatic, civilian sporting pistol that matches the look and feel of the legendary MP5 submachine gun.

Designed and manufactured to meet the definition of a civilian pistol, the SP5 is loaded with authentic features, like a Navy barrel with threaded tri-lug adaptor, paddle magazine release, fluted chamber, and chrome-lined bore.

The backbone of the SP5 is the roller-delayed blowback operating system, which is legendary for its accuracy, reliability, and smooth shooting dynamic. Originally perfected on the Heckler & Koch G3 rifle, it has been used on several other HK firearms still serving today around the world.

The SP5 is manufactured in Heckler & Koch’s Oberndorf factory in southwest Germany. It retains many of the critical elements of the MP5, including its precision-machined components and attention to detail. This high level of quality and workmanship is a result of making the SP5 in the same factory, on the same lines, and by the same workforce that has been making MP5s for years.

For more comfortable shooting, the SP5 is equipped with an elastic “bungee” sling. The sling is easily installed by snapping it onto the sling swivel hardware located on the rear of the receiver. Using the sling makes firing the SP5 more stable and reduces fatigue. A wide variety of accessories can be added to increase its functionality. As the world’s most popular pistol-caliber carbine platform, the SP5 is supported by an aftermarket loaded with lots of great accessories, from rails and handguards all the way up to everything you need to make your own legally-registered short-barreled rifle.

ALL NFA RULES APPLY. WARNING: 1. The addition of a stock to a H&K type pistol with a barrel shorter than 16 inches in length results in the manufacturing of a short-barreled rifle (SBR) which falls within the classification of firearms subject to NFA controls. 2.  Prior to converting the pistol into a rifle, ensure you follow the guidance in 18 U.S. Code § 922 (r) and 27 CFR 478.39. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that all laws and regulations are followed.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM.  It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder.  No civilian exceptions.

Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:

1)     Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.

2)     A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.

3)     After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).

4)     Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)

5)     Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.

That’s it! We try to make this process as simple as possible for our customers, but if you are unfamiliar the process or have any other questions, please visit our How to Buy a Firearm page for more details.

California and New York residents please, click here. The process may be different due to state specific laws.

NOTE: The free shipping option does not apply to full rifles, unless purchased with a riflescope.  If you choose free shipping at check-out, we will bill you for shipping later.
