The FN SCAR 20S NRCH is a result of continuous innovation in tactical firearm development. This rifle, inheriting the legacy of the MK 17 and MK 20 SSR, is engineered for precision and reliable long-range performance, targeting engagements up to and beyond 800 yards.
The demand for a high-caliber, long-range rifle that combines tactical versatility with precision shooting capabilities is a persistent challenge for both military operatives and civilian marksmen.
Current options often compromise either in maneuverability, accuracy at long ranges, or recoil management. This gap leaves a significant need in situations where precision and control are paramount.
The FN SCAR 20S NRCH addresses these challenges head-on. It extends the effective range beyond conventional limits without sacrificing the operational agility and recoil control essential for accurate, sustained fire.
The FN SCAR 20S NRCH, a civilian adaptation of the military's SCAR 20 SSR (Sniper Support Rifle), is a notable achievement in tactical rifle evolution. This model is distinguished by its Non-Reciprocating Charging Handle (NRCH) system, a significant upgrade introduced in 2021. The NRCH design includes an all-new charging sled and bilateral charging handles, enhancing user safety and ergonomics. One handle features a 30-degree cant to avoid interference with low-mounted optics, while the other is low-profile to prevent snagging.
The rifle's magazine compatibility is a nod to FN's engineering. It uses a proprietary magazine, essentially a modified version of the FAL magazine, demonstrating FN's integration of reliable systems into modern firearms. Both .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor versions use these magazines, which are also compatible with the SCAR 17S, underscoring the design's versatility and convenience.
Another unique aspect is the SCAR 20S's adjustable gas regulator, inspired by the robust FAL system but streamlined for ease of use. This feature, with its three settings, adapts the rifle to different operational conditions, including suppressed fire, demonstrating FN's commitment to tactical adaptability.
This model also stands out with its unique color schemes. The SCAR series' color variations, often referred to as "tactical banana split" and "tactical peanut butter," reflect FN's commitment to aesthetic uniqueness and identity within the tactical firearm community. These distinctive colors have become a recognizable trait of the SCAR lineup, further distinguishing it in the field of modern tactical rifles.
The change in twist rate from 1:10 to 1:12 in the FN SCAR 20S reflects FN's focus on optimizing the rifle for long-range accuracy with a broader range of ammunition. The 1:12 twist rate is particularly well-suited for stabilizing standard 7.62 NATO and .308 Winchester rounds, which are commonly used in both military and civilian shooting contexts. This twist rate provides a balance between stabilizing heavier long-range bullets and maintaining compatibility with more commonly available ammunition, making the SCAR 20S a versatile option for various shooting scenarios. Quote one user in the FN Owners Forum: "My 12 twist pipe shoots 168g GMM out to 1k just fine. Have also run 175g GMM as well and they stabilize with no issue... I can keep a 10rd mag of the 168g on a steel silhouette at a 1k so that's more than sufficient for my needs." (FN Forum)
The SCAR 20S bridges the gap between a classical SCAR's pronounced recoil and the fine-tuned stability of a dedicated sniper rifle, offering a harmonious blend of power and precision. This balance makes it an ideal choice for both military applications and civilian long-range shooting.

THIS IS A SERIALIZED FIREARM. It must ship to a Federal Firearms License holder. No civilian exceptions.
Buying and shipping through Charlie’s is easy, but there is some information you need to know. Only a federally licensed firearms dealer may receive a firearm or federally regulated serialized item (like a receiver or suppressor). We cannot ship these items directly to you. Please follow these steps to process your transaction:
1) Check your state laws to make sure the federally regulated item you want to purchase is legal in your state. Your FFL dealer should be able to give you all of the necessary information regarding your state specific laws. But, if we ship to your FFL, and there is a legal issue, we cannot accept a return. So please make sure that you know and follow your local and state laws.
2) A quick google search will show you what Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealers are in your area. When you are ready to purchase, contact the FFL dealer you would like to use and get their shipping address. During the check-out, put YOUR address in the “billing” section and the FFL DEALER’S address in the “shipping” section. If you don’t know your FFLs address, that’s okay. You can send the information later.
3) After check out, make sure to contact your FFL dealer to ensure they will receive your shipment for you (most do this for a small fee, but you should always double check).
4) Have your dealer send us a copy of their FFL to FFL@CharliesCustomClones.com. Charlie’s does not reach to your FFL (MAKE THEM EARN THEIR FEE!!!)
5) Be patient! In order to ensure we remain compliant with all federal laws, our compliance department is kept separate from our sales and operations team. Please allow a few days for our compliance officer to verify all of your dealer’s documents and ensure all federal laws are being observed. You should hear from our compliance department within 3-4 business days. If not, feel free to reach out for a status update.
