Vortex
The Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18 in First Focal Plane is a versatile, lightweight, and highly advanced optic that offers a wide range of magnification options. It's designed for the discerning hunter, target shooter, and PRS competitor who demands performance without breaking the bank.
The Strike Eagle 3-18x44mm riflescope is designed to bridge the gap between mid-range and long-range shooting. It's perfect for topping off your carbine or DMR rifle with a first focal plane optic that's versatile, tough, ultra-clear at any magnification, and specifically designed for rapid adjustment in fast-changing target scenarios. This Strike Eagle is long-range capable and excels at intermediate to extended range applications, like dynamic target shooting or varmint/predator hunting. The overall design of the Strike Eagle 3-18 is compact at 13" and weighs just 27 ounces for outstanding maneuverability.
The EBR-7C reticle in this scope is an MOA configuration. The EBR-7C features an ultra-fine 0.14 MOA center dot, as well as an abundance of sub-tensions and hash marks allowing the user to determine ranges, make holdovers/windage corrections, and accurately engage moving targets. The reticle is also illuminated for use in low light situations, and the illumination dial is integrated directly into the parallax knob for better ergonomics. MOA reticles are generally preferred by bench rest shooters, experienced shooter who have grown to know the MOA reticle, new shooters and hunters. An MOA reticle is easy to use and easy to learn, with the estimate of 1 MOA = 1 inch at 100 yards. Also, many hunting rifles have used MOA reticles for decades. The first focal plane presents new opportunities to leverage range finding and is a more modern reticle.
The Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18X44 FFP Riflescope is a versatile, reliable, and high-performing scope that offers a wide range of magnification, making it an ideal choice for precision shooting, without breaking the bank. Charlie's would not exactly call the Strike Eagle a budget play, but it clearly is a value play. This scope is one of the better scopes for someone staring out in PRS competition, for example. It has many of the features of higher-end scopes, while maintaining a mid-range magnification for shots from 50 to 500 yards, and cutting some of the non-sense out to allow Vortex to make this a popularly priced opitc.
ANSWER: A first focal plane reticle allows the reticle size to change as you adjust the magnification. This means the holdover values remain consistent, allowing for more accurate shots at varying distances.
ANSWER: The HD Optical System provides exceptional resolution, cuts chromatic aberration, and delivers color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and light transmission for clear views.
ANSWER: The EBR-7C reticle provides detailed hold points, yet remains uncluttered for optimal viewing and features 10 intensity levels with off positions between each setting.
ANSWER: The RevStop Zero System is a rapid and easy-to-set zero stop mechanism that quickly returns to zero after dialing temporary elevation correction.
