Mesa Tactical
Mesa Tactical has been making duty grade shotgun accessories for more than 20 years. Shotguns are incredibly versatile weapon platforms. Whatever the target, there are shotgun loads for it. Power and simplicity are the main draws to the shotgun, however there is one weakness, ammunition capacity. Shotguns have limited capacity due to the size of the ammunition and the nature of tube fed designs. Without the convenience of quick change magazines, the problem has always been keeping the gun fed. Many solutions have been tried over the years from special pouches and shell holders mounted to stocks and worn on belts. Through trial and error, the most popular method to emerge has been the receiver mounted shell holder known as the side saddle. A series of loops, usually made of metal or plastic, are attached to the side of the receiver and hold shells at the ready for quick magazine top offs. Mesa Tactical has perfected the side saddle shell holder.
The SureShell Carrier is machined from hardcoat anodized 6061-T6 aluminum making it stronger than competing offerings. What Mesa Tactical has done in addition to using these quality materials is to make their carriers model specific. Lesser manufacturers have sold shell holders that just glue to the receiver or try to work on multiple models and end up failing under hard use. Mesa uses the best attachment method for each type of shotgun. This Remington model uses replacement trigger group pins with Chicago screws to hold the saddle secure while also doubling as anti walk pins and prevent pinching the receiver. Santoprene elastomer tubes hold the shells secure in brass up or brass down alignment. And finally a rubber gasket protects the finish of the host firearm.
