You may not know Gray Ops for scope mounts, but your future self might. LOL. As mega-brands take over some of the more comfortable names in precision machining, the smaller niche players, like Gray Ops are emerging as the next big deal in mounts.
Gray Ops CNC has been manufacturing high quality parts and accessories since 2019. They've made bag riders, ARCA mounts, forend weights, and more. Among their assortment is a series of scope mounts with some of the tightest quality control in the industry. Gray Ops Precision Scope Mounts are made for those who demand the best.
Designed for shooters, by shooters. This mount encompasses everything needed for ultimate consistency and reliability. Every mount is inspected before it leaves the production facility, guaranteeing you are getting the very best for your precision setup.
Gray Ops calls their Precision Scope Mount a Matched Set. What do they mean by this? The manufacturer serial numbers the mount bottom to the ring caps for quality control and to ensure they stay together as a set throughout production. Ring caps are also laser engraved with orientation marks to ensure when you mount your scope, all the parts go exactly as they came off the machine. Consistency is the key to precision.
Another feature that more manufacturers should take note of is the use of a single fastener head for the whole mount. Gray Ops chose to use the T25 Torx bit for all their fasteners so you don't have to swap between multiple bits over the course of the mounting. T25s are also large and less likely to strip than smaller bits.
Gray Ops also uses a unique V groove mounting system to secure and align accessories such as add on Picatinny rails or bubble levels.
A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is used to ensure all parts are dimensionally correct and meet the highest standards of quality control. When you buy Gray Ops CNC you get the best.
Gray Ops only started making scope mounts in 2023, so to look at who is using them could be misleading, but in such a short time, Precision Rifle Blog notes that currently, in the 2024 PRS match season, Gray Ops is ranked #5 in popularity among the top 200 shooters, behind Hawkins and Spuhr, and ahead of Nightforce, Badger and Leupold, to name a few other brands.
"I’d expect that most people reading this have some experience with Gray Ops products, but for those that might not – they are very, very well-made and thought-out products. Dave Preston, owner of Gray Ops CNC, has an engineering background and was the 2015 PRS Season Champion. He remains competitive, finishing 21st in the 2023 PRS season rankings. Anything that Gray Ops CNC makes is an extremely capable product, and I’m sure these scope mounts are no exception." Taken from PRB, June, 2024
