Target distances are getting farther, calibers are more powerful than ever and riflescopes are constantly getting heavier. For these reasons, a top-quality scope mount is arguably the most important element of a precision rifle package. If the mount does not hold the scope perfectly aligned with your point of aim, and moves even just a hair, you will never hit that long range target.
The top Picatinny rail provides versatility to mount a RMR style reflex sight for 1x targeting, or a laser or nightvision illuminator, or a rangerinder, which, with the advent of affordable rangefinding solutions for tactical and civilian use, is becomming more and more popular. This works well for tactical situations, training, and out in the wild shooting.
When it comes to long-range shooting, whether it's Precision Rifle Series (PRS) or Extreme Long Range (ELR), the quality of your scope mount is as crucial as the scope itself. Cadex's Gen 2 Unitized Scope Mounts are precision engineered to meet the demands of modern shooters. The six-bolt design ensures that the scope stays tight, even under heavy recoil. This is particularly important for those who are into precision shooting with larger calibers. A loose scope can significantly affect your accuracy, and the six-bolt design mitigates this risk by providing a rock-solid grip on the scope.
The mount's height of 1.50" is not arbitrary; it's designed to offer the optimal eye-to-scope alignment, which is crucial for long-range shooting. This height allows for a more natural head position, reducing neck strain and enhancing the shooter's comfort during extended periods of use. This is perfect for AR15/AR10 rifles, as well as tactical bolt guns with larger diameter objective lenses. The 1.50" height is also useful to get above any mounted devices near the muzzle. At one time, 1.5" was considered high for bolt guns. This is true for hunting rifles and competition rifles without a forward rail, but as more tactical bolt guns have extended tactical rails, that slight extra height is needed for a 56mm bell housing to clear, or if the rail has an MOA bias to it, which causes the scope to slope down, and long-range scopes that are long or have the larger objective lens will soon hit the forward rail. Since this is a tactical style mount, the 1.50" height is considered standard.
